The International Cooperative Alliance Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP) marked 2024 as a year of significant progress, highlighted by India hosting the historic ICA Global Cooperative Conference and the launch of the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025. Leadership emphasized sustained commitment to cooperative principles, strengthening global and regional ties through events like the 11th Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers’ Conference in Jordan. Key milestones included the ICA Director General’s visits to East Asian powerhouses, reinforcing regional collaboration, and the adoption of the Jordan Declaration to foster inclusive growth. The organization also welcomed new members from Cambodia, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia, expanding its diverse network.
Throughout the year, ICA-AP championed crucial thematic areas, notably empowering youth and women through dedicated programs, campaigns, and leadership summits. International partnerships were strengthened, particularly with the launch of the ICA-EU Financial Framework Partnership Agreement Phase 2 and ongoing ICA-MAFF training programs, enhancing capacity building across the region. Efforts to boost cooperative visibility, research, and knowledge-sharing saw successful research conferences, insightful publications like COOP Dialogue, and numerous webinars. Furthermore, ICA-AP drove cooperative growth by promoting advancements in trade, digitalization, and financial innovation, ensuring cooperatives remain resilient and adaptive in a dynamic global landscape.
